For us, language is more than a skill, it’s a connection to family, culture, identity, and opportunity. Yet millions of children lose the chance to become confident speakers simply because they don't get enough meaningful practice during the years when language learning comes most naturally.

We started My Phoenyx because language learning is personal for both of us.

Carolina grew up in Argentina and learned English as a second language. She experienced firsthand how learning another language can open doors, create opportunities, and transform a life.

Kimberly grew up in a Chinese-American family and saw how difficult it can be to maintain a heritage language across generations. Like many families, she experienced the gap that forms when children understand a language but gradually stop speaking it.

We met through MIT and discovered that, despite our different backgrounds, we were trying to solve the same problem: helping children build the confidence to speak another language through daily conversation.

Together, we created My Phoenyx, an AI-powered companion that grows with children from their first words to real conversations.

For younger children, Phoenyx comes to life as a screen-free plush companion that encourages language through play, stories, songs, and conversation. As children grow, Phoenyx continues the journey through interactive games, adventures, and real-world speaking practice inside the app.

Today, we work alongside educators, language specialists, AI engineers, researchers, and designers who share a simple belief: children learn language best through relationships, curiosity, and play.

We're not just building a toy or an app.
